Have you stopped since the new law came in?
SMOKE FREE LAW
From the 1st July 2007 England became smoke free, the new law was introduced to protect employees and the public from the harmful effects of secondhand smoke.
It is against the law to smoke in virtally all enclosed public places, workplaces and public and work vehicles too. Secondhand smoke is a serious health hazard, every time you breathe in secondhand smoke you take in over 4,000 chemicals and many are highly toxic and over 50 are known to cause cancer. About 85% of secondhand smoke is invisable and ordourless too.
Every body knows that smoking is not good for you and most people underestimate the real health risk that it poses. Smoking kills about 115,000 people each year in the UK. Around 43,000 are from smoking related cancers, 29,000 from lung cancer and around 30,000 from cardiovascular disease.
The most common cause of death is from lung cancer which kills about 40,000 people each year in the UK. If you smoke 20 gigarettes each day your risk of getting lung cancer is 30-40 times higher than a life long non-smoker.
If you stop, after about 15 years of abstinence your risk goes down to that of a non-smoker. Stopping smoking proves difficult for some people, some can do it with their own will power which is great but others need help, you can stop with just one session of hypnotherapy and it is so easy to do.
